The recently introduced Lipschitz-Killing curvature measures on pseudo-Riemannian manifolds satisfy a Weyl principle, i.e. are invariant under isometric embeddings. We show that they are uniquely characterized by this property. We apply this characterization to prove a K\"unneth-type formula for Lipschitz-Killing curvature measures, and to classify the invariant generalized valuations and curvature measures on all isotropic pseudo-Riemannian space forms., Comment: 25 pages

We explore the notion of Santal\'o point for the Holmes-Thompson boundary area of a convex body in a normed space. In the case where the norm is $C^1$, and in the case where unit ball and convex body coincide, we prove existence and uniqueness. When the normed space has a smooth positively curved unit ball, we exhibit a dual Santal\'o point expressed as an average of centroids of projections of the dual body., Comment: 21 pages, 2 figures. We have added a new result to the paper showing that our previous uniqueness results hold without any regularity assumptions in case the two convex bodies B and K coincide. The algebras of valuations on $S^6$ and $S^7$ invariant under the actions of $\mathrm G_2$ and $\mathrm{Spin}(7)$ are shown to be isomorphic to the algebra of translation-invariant valuations on the tangent space at a point invariant under the action of the isotropy group. This is in analogy with the cases of real and complex space forms, suggesting the possibility that the same phenomenon holds in all Riemannian isotropic spaces. Based on the description of the algebras the full array of kinematic formulas for invariant valuations and curvature measures in $S^6$ and $S^7$ is computed. A key technical point is an extension of the classical theorems of Klain and Schneider on simple valuations.

Following the work of Semyon Alesker in the scalar valued case and of Thomas Wannerer in the vector valued case, the dimensions of the spaces of continuous translation invariant and unitary equivariant tensor valuations are computed. In addition, a basis in the vector valued case is presented.

The Weyl principle is extended from the Riemannian to the pseudo-Riemannian setting, and subsequently to manifolds equipped with generic symmetric $(0,2)$-tensors. More precisely, we construct a family of generalized curvature measures attached to such manifolds, extending the Riemannian Lipschitz-Killing curvature measures introduced by Federer. We then show that they behave naturally under isometric immersions, in particular they do not depend on the ambient signature. Consequently, we extend Theorema Egregium to surfaces equipped with a generic metric of changing signature, and more generally, establish the existence as distributions of intrinsically defined Lipschitz-Killing curvatures for such manifolds of arbitrary dimension. This includes in particular the scalar curvature and the Chern-Gauss-Bonnet integrand. Given a closed submanifold, or a compact regular domain, in Euclidean space, we consider the Riesz energy defined as the double integral of some power of the distance between pairs of points. When this integral diverges, we compare two different regularization techniques (Hadamard's finite part and analytic continuation), and show that they give essentially the same result. We prove that some of these energies are invariant under MA¶bius transformations, thus giving a generalization to higher dimensions of the MA¶bius energy of knots.

We introduce different bases for the vector space of Sp(2)Sp(1)-invariant, translation invariant continuous valuations on the quaternionic plane and determine a complete set of kinematic formulas.

The local kinematic formulas on complex space forms induce the structure of a commutative algebra on the space CurvU(n)∗ of dual unitarily invariant curvature measures. Building on the recent results from integral geometry in complex space forms, we describe this algebra structure explicitly as a polynomial algebra. This is a short way to encode all local kinematic formulas. We then characterize the invariant valuations on complex space forms leaving the space of invariant angular curvature measures fixed.

We describe the orbit space of the action of the group $\mathrm{Sp}(2)\mathrm{Sp}(1)$ on the real Grassmann manifolds $\mathrm{Gr}_k(\mathbb{H}^2)$ in terms of certain quaternionic matrices of Moore rank not larger than $2$. We show how Alesker's theory of valuations on manifolds gives rise to an algebraic picture of the integral geometry of any Riemannian isotropic space. We then apply this method to give a thorough account of the integral geometry of the complex space forms, i.e. complex projective space, complex hyperbolic space and complex euclidean space. In particular, we compute the family of kinematic formulas for invariant valuations and invariant curvature measures in these spaces. In addition to new and more efficient framings of the tube formulas of Gray and the kinematic formulas of Shifrin, this approach yields a new formula expressing the volumes of the tubes about a totally real submanifold in terms of its intrinsic Riemannian structure. We also show by direct calculation that the Lipschitz-Killing valuations stabilize the subspace of invariant angular curvature measures, suggesting the possibility that a similar phenomenon holds for all Riemannian manifolds. We prove Gaus-Bonnet-type and Chern-Lashof-type formulas for immersions in hyperbolic space. Moreover we investigate the notion of tightness with respect to horospheres introduced by T.E. Cecil and P.J. Ryan. We introduce the notions of top-set and drop-set, and we prove fundamental properties of horo-tightness in hyperbolic spaces.

In this article we introduce and investigate linear combinations of hypersurfaces in hyperbolic space. For this purpose we use some linear structure in the space of horospheres.

We find the minimal value of the length in de Sitter space of closed space-like curves with non-vanishing non-space-like geodesic curvature vector. These curves are in correspondence with closed almost-regular canal surfaces, and their length is a natural magnitude in conformal geometry. As an application, we get a lower bound for the total conformal torsion of closed space curves.

We generalize Banchoff–Pohlʼs isoperimetric inequality to complex affine space.

Given two surfaces in three dimensional euclidean space, one fixed and the other moved by rigid motions, we consider the total absolute curvature of the intersection curves. In this paper we investigate the integral of these total absolute curvatures over all motions. Under some geometric conditions we obtain kinematic formulas, and with weaker conditions we get upper and lower bounds. Finally, as applications, we obtain upper bounds for the average number of connected components of the intersections, and we give Hadwiger conditions for a convex domain to be able to contain another one.

We introduce a Mobius invariant energy associated to planar domains, as well as a generalization to space curves. This generalization is a Mobius version of Banchoff-Pohl's notion of area enclosed by a space curve. A relation with Gauss-Bonnet theorems for complete surfaces in hyperbolic space is also described.

We revisit the contact measures introduced by Firey, and further developed by Schneider and Teufel, from the perspective of the theory of valuations on manifolds. This reveals a link between the kinematic formulas for area measures studied by Wannerer and the integral geometry of curved isotropic spaces. We present a Gauss–Bonnet type formula for complete surfaces in n-dimensional hyperbolic space \(\mathbb{H}^{n}\) under some assumptions on their asymptotic behaviour. As in recent results for Euclidean submanifolds (see Dillen–Kuhnel [4] and Dutertre [5]), the formula involves an ideal defect, i.e., a term involving the geometry of the set of points at infinity.

We consider the measure of points, the measure of lines and the measure of planes intersecting a given convex body K in a space form. We obtain some integral formulas involving the width of K and the curvature of its boundary ∂K. Also we study the special case of constant width. Moreover we obtain a generalisation of the Heintze–Karcher inequality to space forms.

We extend classical Cauchy formulas and Crofton formulas to the Lorentz-Minkowski space, and to constant curvature Lorentz spaces.

Using results from integral geometry, we find inequalities involving mean curvature integrals of convex hypersurfaces in hyperbolic space. Such inequalities generalize the Minkowski formulas for euclidean convex sets.

We give an integral-geometric proof of the Gauss-Bonnet theorem for hypersurfaces in constant curvature spaces. As a tool, we obtain variation formulas in integral geometry with interest in its own.

In n-dimensional Euclidean space, the measure of hyperplanes intersecting a convex domain is proportional to the (n−2)-mean curvature integral of its boundary. This question was considered by Santalo in hyperbolic space. In non-Euclidean geometry the totally geodesic hypersurfaces are not always the best analogue to linear hyperplanes. In some situations horospheres play the role of Euclidean hyperplanes.

We compute the measure with multiplicity of the set of complex planes intersecting a compact domain in a complex space form. The result is given in terms of the so-called hermitian intrinsic volumes. Moreover, we obtain two different versions for the Gauss-Bonnet-Chern formula in complex space forms. One of them gives the Gauss curvature integral in terms of the Euler characteristic, and some hermitian intrinsic volumes. The other one, which is shorter, involves the measure of complex hyperplanes meeting the domain. We prove a Gauss-Bonnet formula for the extrinsic curvature of complete surfaces in hyperbolic space under some assumptions on the asymptotic behaviour. The result is given in terms of the measure of geodesics intersecting the surface non-trivially, and of a conformal invariant of the curve at infinity.

We generalize the classical formulas of integral geometry, by getting integral geometric formulas for the intersection of a fixed compact hypersurface of hyperbolic space and a moving totally umbilical hypersurface. In particular we compute the mean value of the volume, the total mean curvatures and the Euler characteristic of these intersections when the totally umbilical hypersurface moves over all the intersecting positions. Analogous formulas are given for totally umbilical hypersurfaces contained in totally geodesic planes of ℍn.

The paper studies the relation between the asymptotic values of the ratios area/length (F/L) and diameter/length (D/L) of a sequence of convex sets expanding over the whole hyperbolic plane. It is known that F/L goes to a value between 0 and 1 depending on the shape of the contour. In the paper, it is first of all seen that D/L has limit value between 0 and 1/2 in strong contrast with the euclidean situation in which the lower bound is 1/π (D/L = 1/π if and only if the convex set has constant width). Moreover, it is shown that, as the limit of D/L approaches 1/2, the possible limit values of F/L reduce. Examples of all possible limits F/L and D/L are given.
